Left to Right: JCS LdeV - Red Diamonds, Swingtime, Firenze, Sienna

JCS new LdeV shoes — One more time, Eponymous Trenchmouth offers us a new range of shoes and, once again, they’re fabulous. The shoes are built on a totally new shoe base that offers a perfect fitting to male feet, handling the ridiculously wide ankles LL gave you so generously, without looking too wide. This is thanks to the most clever usage of a tiny invisiprim placed at a strategic point without being annoying as are many invisiprims used for shoes. This squared toe base, with a very modern look, led Eponymous to create a sophisticated shoe range, “LdeV.” Five models are available for now (I hope many more will be soon!) — the four you can see on the above picture, plus a new version of “Henry Morgan” with a wide buckle, which wasn’t available at the time this post was being done. “Red Diamond” is a super formal, yet not classical model, with red accent and a bow tie, a shoe for the most special occasion! “Swingtime” uses the same lozenged accent in a vivid teal. Both of them offer a shiny finish, incredibly delicately done. Firenze and Sienna are more classical but still sophisticated. Each of them are resize scripted, with the very good script Eponymous uses, offering direct access to 6 sizes, without the mysterious message you can get with usual resize scripts (this prim, all prims, I don’t know about you, but I always feel like I’m about to ruin my shoes!). Note that the resize is done to match your avatar proportions, with your avatar’s foot size set to zero. Please don’t make your shoes look like boats by oversizing them. It doesn’t look more masculine; it just looks ugly ;-)

With a mere 56 prims per shoe, the “LdeV” range is quite prim conscious for a pure classic prim build (meaning you won’t have to wait for the sculpty to rez, showing huge balls attached to your feet, YAY!). The art of seaming textures from one prim to another is the signature of JCS. Textures are gorgeous, realistic without feeling photosourced. The reflections on the shiny leather are amazing. Epy drew them on PS after hours of observation of his own shiny shoes under the light. This new LdeV range is simply a masterpiece. Just waiting for new models on the same great shoe base!
Free demos and the nicest customer service: you can’t be disappointed!

Left to Right and Top Down: MADesigns Hair Ross, slmen’s choice: Swedish Blonde 3, Dark Brown 1, Copper 1, Ash Brown 1, Silver Tone 3, Shiny Black 1.

New MADesigns hair - Maddox DuPont just entered the hair design scene with a bunch of short hair for men that are really worth a look. Men have a large choice of hair in world nowadays, but more in the mid-long range, or in the messy-alternative-grunge range. Short hair isn’t so common, and it’s great to get eight of them in this new release (more to come very soon.) Different styles are offered: up on the head (like Ross, shown today), swept to the front of the head in a very modern way, sleek side parted hair, or slightly messy but still elegant. You can choose from a full range of masculine short hair styles with an urban trendy look, perfect with those luxury casuals or modern suits you carefully store in your inventory. These hair styles are very well built, with enough pieces to avoid holes, which isn’t so uncommon, believe me. They are pretty easy to adjust on several shape types. I just advise you to slightly modify your head shape when you wear a hair like the “Ross” shown today, which totally exposes the forehead. It will save you a lot of tedious tweaking time in one simple action: set the slider named “Forehead Angle” to zero (”Shape” tab, “Head” section in appearance mode). A simple adjustment of the size of the hair to match your avie’s head size if needed should make you look good.

36 hair colors are available, sold in 12 packs of three close colors each. Some are already very good, like the “Natural Black” and “Shiny Black,” “Ash Brown,” “Dark Brown,” “Silver tones” and “Copper” packs. Most of the blonde colors need a bit of improvement IMHO (creating natural looking blonde hair texture is one of the most difficult texturing work ever, so I won’t blame the designer in his first attempt!). Also, I think some red hair, from auburn to frankly red are missing. I know some avatars who would never wear any other color tone than a red! ;-) Anyway, considering it’s a first release, it’s a total success. I remember first texture sets of well known hair makers that were not as good as these. Knowing Maddox DuPont’s attention to detail, I’m sure you’ll get new textures very soon. Meanwhile, just go try the free demos and pick the colors you love the most, I’m sure you will enjoy this new MADesigns hair range!

Left to Right and Top Down, slmen’s choice: AOHARU SilkFlowerShirt White, SilkFlowerShirt Black, SilkShirt Orange, SilkFlowerShirt Brown, SilkFlowerShirt Red, StripeShirt Black.

Aoharu dress shirts — Some time ago, Machang Pichot, the designer behind Aoharu, released a range of very interesting dress shirts in many versions and colors. Each one comes in each and every possible layer, including lower complement on the underpants for a tucked look with low rise pants AND on the pants layer, when you want an untucked look when you choose to wear something else on the jacket layer, like a coat, and so wear the shirt on the shirt layer (you better get pants on the underpants layer, then. Wow, it becomes complicated!) You will also get sculpted attachments: a collar, very nicely done, and a set of cuffs to complete the shirt that are mid arm long. The texturing work is great, with the best seam between the upper part and the lower part of the shirt, even with the striped model, my favorite (shown on the main composite). These shirts are very elegant and will give you a cool look, halfway between cartoony and photorealistic, with amazing details: simply the best of what SL can offer! I just miss a version of the shirt with a collar drawn on the texture, because the sculpted collars won’t necessarily be good looking with everything you could wear over these shirts, like the multi-layer option is supposedly allowing. Anyway, these shirts are great and I’m sure you will adore them. Note that a sale is actually running in Aoharu, for only a few more days. Go there to benefit from a 50% off rebate on everything!

I’m wearing a pair of pants I took from the “Executive Suit” in white from Hoorenbeek, probably the most complete pack you can get when you buy a suit on the grid. I will, obviously, do an in depth review of it very soon. Also showing my favorite ring of the moment: Stacked Ring from Kunstkammer.

Enjoy!

  6. LOL @ Mhaijik. I really like that shirt with the orange trim. I saw that trend in a lot of the Spring/Summer 09 shows and was hoping it would slide into SL fashion as well. Good see it’s in! Well done Ben!
