Left to Right, Top to Bottom: Shiny Things Xing Boots in Oxblood, Warm Brown, Ash Brown, Grey

It’s been more than a year since Fallingwater Cellardoor has done new shoes or boots for men, and it has definitely been worth the wait. These stompy looking engineer-type boots, the Xings, are really beautifully done, available in five colors: black (shown on the main composite), oxblood, grey, and two browns — warm and ash. Affixed with two straps in an alligator-type texture, the boots are laced up with hastily tied bows at top and bottom. The detail is exquisite. Each purchase of a color of these boots will get you two versions in the pack: one version is for use with the standard SL viewer, and one is to maximize the rezzing speed of the sculpty prims on the newest viewers. This is much appreciated, avoiding us standing around with balls on our feet while waiting for things to rez. ;) Also appreciated is the fact that there are no invisiprims in the build that play an ugly game with inappropriate transparencies or bad reaction with alpha textures nearby. Additionally, two versions of a color-changing hud for the laces are included in each package. The boots also come in three sizes: small, medium and large, with a lower prim and calf attachment with laces that allows you to wear these boots with long pants. These are an excellent addition to any avatar’s wardrobe.

Quality: 5/5 - Style-Originality: 5/5 - Usability (different layers, modify perms, amount of outfits put together with a single pack): 4/5 - Price: 3/5 - Value for money: 4/5

They were perfect for use with this kilt I picked up at Subtle Submission. A flexi kilt in a leather texture, it’s easy to resize, able to be worn with a belt (the steampunk belt from LCC shown here), or with the included suspenders on the shirt layer. The kilt includes black shorts on the pants layer.

The torn wool over the knee socks shown, from Sassy Kitty Design, fit the kilt and rough boots well, I think.

Truth’s silver tee, worn on the shirt and underwear layer to facilitate “tucking” is a good compliment. Any color would do really.

Finishing off the outfit is a pair of Sofia glasses from Prim Optics, the platinum watch from Styles of edo, and Bernard hair from MAdesign.

Enjoy!

  1. Original outfit and nice pictures, Perry! Thanks for showing these boots from Fallingwater Cellardoor, one of the very few true shoe artists in SL, offering us their creative juice without simply copying RL stuff.

  3. What a fabulous look! Also, I am THRILLED to see Noirran Marx of Subtle Submission getting a mention, as both her men’s and women’s pieces are original, reasonably priced and fun to wear.

Noirran, I love this kilt. Thank you! I’m glad we could share it on the site. (Hear hear, Rosie!)

Hi edo! They are great glasses. The frame color, shininess, material, opacity of the lenses as well as lens color, can all be changed (in case I forgot to mention that ;).
