Slmen is one year old! YAY!

Ben Vanguard | - Non classé | Saturday, January 5th, 2008

For the year following its start in january 4th 2007, Slmen has been 320 posts, 541,800 visitors, 993,300 viewed pages (see stats below).

It has been hard work, but a labor of love, with a simple goal: promote quality content creation in the virtual fashion scene and propose, and not impose, looks to men, with minimal comments, like a RL fashion magazine would do.

When slmen began, it was all about “where to find things for men.” This year, it will become “what to choose” as the men’s fashion landscape has dramatically improved during this past year, in quantity and quality. I hope humbly slmen had a little part in that expansion.

Thank you to the content creators who make our second life so enjoyable!

Thank you to Perry Proudhon, Harper Beresford, Dominic Palisades who worked for slmen in 2007 and allow me to have some rest sometimes! Peeps, you have to endure my demands and my terrible attention to detail, thank you to have held tight though!

We will together work to make slmen better this new year, with maybe a little less posts, but more selective ones.

Thanks to you, faithful readers. Without you, slmen would not have lasted more than a few weeks :-)

I wish you all an awesome new year with Slmen!

Ben Vanguard

  10. Thank you Ben for your most generous gift to SL, your hard work and and eye for style. I know it is so often a thankless job for you, one you took upon yourself never looking for any monetary rewards, but hopefully deriving some satisfaction out of seeing so many of us visit your site. I know some us content creators can be bitchy prima dona’s and yet you graciously deal with us, or ignore the true a@@holes., and I love you for it =D
And thanks to Perry Proudhon, Harper Beresford, Dominic Palisades too. Hopefully you can take over more of the posts - A burnout Ben is an unhappy Ben. I am all for fewer posts and a happier Camper !
Many thanks again and happy 1 year Anniversary.

  12. Congratulations SL Men and Ben, your generous work for the males of Second Life is already having a huge impact as the fashions you report on are picked up on by those with style, and those, like me, who sometimes need a hand to find the wonderful designers of SL you always feature.

Here is to the next year and all those that follow… I know I will remain a loyal reader.

  19. Congratulations Ben! You have not only been a kind reviewer to me, but personally, one of my best friends in SL. With your kind advice and constructive critiques of my work you have helped me become a better designer and I have a feeling that I would not be seeing the same level of success had it not been for your friendship and for SL Men. Thank you so much, from my heart.

    Love,
    Lissa
