Tenue du jour / Outfit of the Day: Baby, The Stars Shine Bright

It comes over us every now and then, that urge which a wise woman by the name of Rihanna described as the instinct to “get my body moving / Shake the stress away”. And, of course, look good into the bargain. Today’s outfit was put together with those twin urges in mind - a little number that seeks to transcend the stiffness of a formal suit as well as the over-casualness of a tight tank top + jeans combo.

The shirt’s from an Italian clothier, Genius Target, and is apparently inspired by a real life Dior piece. It features a field of white stars against a backdrop of gray - very beautiful from a distance, and when you’re fluidly grooving away in a club, it positively shimmers.

Perry featured the Black/Steel Shanghai shoes from JCS a while back. What you see here is that pair’s Gray/Silver cousin. This version has a Chinese coin motif on the front of the shoes, very delicate stitchwork, and a lightly burnished leather texture which somehow manages to look like leather and metal at one and the same time.

Helping to anchor the ensemble is the very bold, masculine Nightstalker watch, with its black titanium casing embedded in a wide, sturdy black double-latched leatherband. It comes as a fully working watch in its own right, with several choices of backlights, but the watch’s very thoughtful designer, Aveline Stein, has also thrown in a HUD version that attaches to the SL client screen.

Spiking things up a bit are Insurrection Piercing Set from Primitive Design, a black headscarf (complete with flung back, gravity-defying platinum locks) and a silver bracelet, both from booN, as well as an intriguing unisex necklace from Satryra Singh’s MadeForYou, made up of alternate braids of leather and what looks like…nylon cord!

  6. Hey. I was just saying last night that I am having trouble finding enough new things for summer… I am looking for short sleeves that are more interesting than tees and polos but still cool. This shirt fills the bill. Off to get one now. Thx.

  10. Hi Chicco, the shape is from Jeckie Hax, and it’s the Jack shape. Do be aware, however, that it’s non-mod.

  11. Hi Chicco!
Please don’t buy a no mod shape, ever…
the best shape is the one you build yourself. If you feel not comfortable doing that, buy a moddable one (the best shape makers are honnest and fair and offer noddable shapes) . With a moddable shape, you will keep the possibility to adjust it the day you would like a personalized one, plus you will be able to make a version with normal feet when you walk bare foot on the beach, a version with feet to zero to fit any shoes, a version with a different butt to wear with suits with skirt complement or prim attachment for the lower part of the jacket, and so many other needs.
Here in slmen we strongly believe that no mod shapes are the worst thing content creators can sell. That is the reason why we don’t promote them in any way and will keep explaining customers why it’s unfair to sell them, again and again.

The maker of the shape you ask for pretends that her shapes are perfect for modeling. It’s a pure lie, considering the high level of adjusting and tweaking you need for modeling.

  12. Chicco, Ben - just heard that Jeckie’s decided to sell her shapes mod, after a conversation she had with Ben, it seems.

  13. hello thank you for your responses.
I in sl are model my name Chicco Rabeni.
the shape that I have I have done throughout, was free editable, I received many votes for this shape, different from all other shape.
this shape that you displayed resembles my very best, whether it was editable could adapt it to my taste and not make a copy of another avatar already present in sl. I do not like clones. if you know who sell this editable shape I ask you to inform me, thank you. Congratulations to those who collaborates ocn this meravigliso site.
PS if you need a model for photos on the site contact me and how they are judged as a model.

  14. Hi Chicco,
Thanks for your comments on slmen!
We don’t need models here, we never did.
Each post on slmen is done from A to Z by the same person. For each post, the author:
puts together an outfit (it takes a LONG time),
takes hi-res / high quality pictures on a carefully selected background, with carefully selected poses,
puts together the pictures on a composite following slmen’s graphic chart,
writes complete credits for each piece of the outfit, adding precisions on what you get in each pack, the price, perms, etc.,
Eventually introduces the outfit with a short text.
If you feel like doing posts on slmen and help us, you are most welcome!!! :-)
