Funk Schnook from FNKY talked to me about new versions of the “Kicks” sneakers months ago…but nothing came out! At last, he found time to release new colors for his unsurpassed sculpty sport shoes, with a vintage flair! You will see below our 8 favorite colors out of 12. They are no modify but come in 5 sizes to fit any avatar size. First “Kicks” were launched at 550 Lindens a pair, with a 12 color fat pack priced at 3500 Lindens. After a while and certainly due to their huge success, Funk was naughty and raised the price to 600 Lindens a pair. But with this new release, the price of any Kick (old and new release) is now 500 Lindens a pair, with a fat pack of 12 colors for 2000 Lindens. The first release has now the same price scheme. Wow, 2/3 off on the fat pack, that’s some bargain! If you considered buying at least 3 pairs in one series, you definitely need to choose the everything pack. Copy, no transfer.

I’ve always liked Lexi Morgan’s stuff for men. The basics she designs for Stellar Designs always have that little extra sexiness that makes them different, thanks to Lexi’s talent at playing with highlights and shadows on specific spots This “Snazzy” outfit collection is a good oportunity to get a pair of good jeans and a matching shirt, both with a subdued checkered pattern, for a good price. They come in 6 colors (5 shown here). The pants are moddable, and everything is copy, transfer. You can pick your favorite colors for 285 Lindens each.

Also showing: another great hair from Exile, “Liam,” in the new great textures Kavar Cleanslate offers, and a ring and a bracelet from the brand new Mhaijik Guillume’s collection for men.

Decided on putting together a hiking outfit after getting these new hiking boots by swaffette Firefly. The boots come in three sizes, much appreciated by those of us with smaller avatars. I spent my first months on SL looking like a clown, finally settling for primless shoes, so smaller sizes are welcome. With the boots, you can get six colors of ankle socks with sculpty cuffs, for free.

The next most important piece to ensure that a hike is safe and successful is a decent backpack, filled with essentials just in case one gets lost in the wilderness. I’d seen this pack a while ago at Accessory Arsenal and after reaching into the recesses of my memory, remembered the sim it was located in (but couldn’t remember the name of the shop!), tp’d with my fingers crossed and found the place still there. It’s a wonderful backpack, beautifully textured, very realistic looking but still whimsical. (I love the Hershey bar tucked into the side.) It was a little hard to adjust so the straps looked right, but not too bad. Comes with a flashlight and a walking stick (not pictured).

The green plaid shirt from Young Urban is a nice sportshirt, comfortable and broken in. Very reasonably priced at 80L, it’s worth tossing in your inventory for a casual option. It comes in short sleeves (untucked on the jacket layer), with prim cuffs (not shown), or long-sleeve, tucked on the shirt layer (but pretty short if you’re wearing low-rise pants) and untucked on the jacket layer.

The white capri pants from KR (also available in black) come with prim side pockets (I didn’t attach them) and prim cuffs (shown). I like the cords on the cuffs a lot, and the pants look natural, with good detail and shading. A bit on the expensive side at 250L.

DoC Eldritch’s shop, DE Designs, is HUGE. I know because I was wandering around it late last night trying to find something. It was right in front of my face, of course, but hey, it was late…Anyway, these basic leather pants are nice. The texture is pretty authentic, giving you the feel of real leather. They come in three colors: slate (shown in main pictures), black and brown.

Sark Lane has a new place just upstairs from Zona Cero at Icewater. It’s called “Insomnia” and features some interesting, quirky shirts and jewelry. This shirt, Two Faces, drew a lot of positive comments when I wore it in world the past couple days. I’m also wearing Sark’s “obsession bands,” as well as the snakebite necklace from Zona Cero.

This Alex3 suit by Keth Mommsen for Eros Design is not only perfectly done, it will allow you to express your creativity at coloring, as he offers a tintable version of the tie and of the shirt in the package, added to a ready to wear version!

In the pack you will get two sets of pieces, conveniently numbered, 1 for the ready to wear version, offering a great red tie on a white shirt, with a vest and a long jacket with a complement on the skirt layer (moddable so you can have a more classic look), 2 for the tintable version, offering the same jacket, pants and skirt, plus a special shirt layer for the shirt and a very special undershirt layer for the tie, both tintable. This is the most clever way to offer different ties for a single shirt, as you keep the ability to modify the shirt sleeve to give volume to the jacket’s sleeves, and you still have the ability to change the tie’s color.

The suit is black, which is really challenging for the maker, as in SL the textures do not have thickness like irl, thickness and volume which could grab the light and show the details. Keth did a great job on the pockets, lapels and buttons, to make them visible even on a dark background. There is more: Keth Mommsen knows to place her lapels in the right place to lessen the impact of the body distortion due to movements. You can use many poses and AOs, still looking good without too much ugly distortion.

It goes without saying that this kind of attention to detail ravishes me. I just wait for new versions of this great suit, a version without a vest, more colors of course, and especially in case of tintable objects, a copy-no transfer option. Plus I (and many other) lost so many “no copy” items, eaten by SL…
Anyway, this Alex3 suit is an absolute must have in my humble opinion. I just really hope there will be more colors soon!

New suits by edo Tone, maker of the tuxes shown a couple months ago here at slmen. edo has a good feel for men’s dressy wear. I like the way the jackets hang naturally; I opted for the 4-button style here. I like the rough, loose texture of the fabric, coupled with the linen sweater. My only complaint is about the sleeves (no, Ben, you’re not the only one!). I tried to loosen up the sweater sleeves to add a little looseness to the jacket sleeves, only to find that the sweater sleeves only came 3/4 of the way down my arm, so the jacket sleeves looked awkward. I would have liked them a little looser than they are in the pics.

With the suit, I’ve chosen the black City Walk shoes from Shiny Things, and a haircut I’ve been finding myself wearing more often in world, Wentz from Truth Hawks. A good, slightly messy, casual hair style that lets you see a bit more of the av’s eyes.

Introducing today the creations of a new designer in world: Kwamey Pinion for Soreal. Thanks to Landon Gibbs, faithful reader, who plugged me on this brand!
For now, Kwamey offers a range of vintage sport jackets, nicely textured, with a lot of prim attachments. These attachments have the particularity of being no-moddable, which would usually prevent them from being featured on Slmen, but they are resizable by menu. This way of adjusting attachments is precise and safe. But there is more. The jackets are sold in several packs, in male and female versions, and in each pack you get 2 color options and 2 inscription options. The prim attachment (cuffs, colar, belt) are moddable by HUD. The HUD will allow you to change the color of the collar and cuffs, to match the color of the jacket you selected, to choose the color of the turtleneck under the jacket, or to take it off, to show or not the brand logo on the belt’s buckle, and finally to choose two metal options for the zipper and the belt’s buckle.
You can have each color pack for 495 Lindens.

To go along with these jackets, I wore very realistic sculpted sneakers from Redgrave, good jeans from Iki (I chose them because they come in white, and good white jeans are really rare in sl!), and for the first time on Slmen, hair from Zero Style, by Rei Gully, whose new creations I will soon show! You can appreciate one more time the new updated Envision skin from The Body Politik, in a very masculine “Scraggly Goatee” facial option. To finish the look, some very edgy glasses from Ottico! Enjoy!

Introducing new pants by Kim Takashi for Mantra. These “snake skin” patterned jeans are tintable. I show them with a light blue tint and you can express your color creativity as much as you want! The pants are copy-no-transfer, so you can save each of your own creations.

These pants are perfect to mix and match a Rockstar outfit! Well, this is Kim’s goal to release such items, and she succeeds totally. They come with two prim buckles. Usually, Kim provides a version of her pants with the buckle drawn on the texture, for those who want to avoid one more attachment. As these pants are tintable, they don’t come with this option: the buckle would be tinted too, which might look weird. You can have the new “snake skin jeans” for 125 Lindens.

To go along with these pants, I chose the new “Fox” hair by Icemocolo Voom for Muism. It completes my rockstar look perfectly. Muism will release a lot of hair for men in 2008, which is good for us SL guys! Also, one of the always perfect tattoos from Aitui, a tank top from Renegade in the uber versatile “Tank top pack” offering a full range of layers and colors from white to black (plus it’s tintable), the new Envision V.2 skin from The Body Politik in its “rockstar” makeup 2 option, and some jewelry from Guillaume pour Homme.
