Slmen – How Men Dress in Second Life ®

Hi guys! I’m so happy to introduce today a new range of skins! One more occasion to allow men not to look like clones! YAY!

Simple Spad runs the new brand Signature and just released six skins to fit many needs.
Alika is a young caucasian, brunette, with a bit of a dark side. Looks maybe in his early twenties.
Chase is maybe in his late twenties or early thirties, brunette as well, perfect guy next door type.
Daniel is blonde! Yes, at last another blonde skin! Young as well, with lighter facial hair and eyebrows.
Jose is a dark young brunette, with a dark complexion.
Kevon is a young black guy.
Lee is a young Asian type.
Each of them comes in 3 tones (medium one shown on the composites below), accorded to the skin type, in eight facial hair options (shown below spread on the different composites), each with and without eyeliner option (shaven face with eyeliner shown on each skin composite, top-right picture, without eyeliner in various facial options on the other face pictures).
The body is smooth with no body hair option for now.
They are, as usual in SL, pretty athletic looking, with well defined abs and pecs.
They are fairly priced, at 1000 linden each, with two fatpacks available, all 8 facials with or without eyeliner for 5000 Lindens.

• What I like: the diversity of types offered, skin and hair colors; the interesting facial features, good looking without being too much photosourced (well i should say the post processing of photosource material has been done in depth to make the skin not showing it too obviously, avoiding the weird look you can get with very photorealistic skins); some details on the face are really good, like nose, eyebrows, lips; prices are good.

• What I wish: Better feet (but it’s always the weak point on skins… SL fault); better ears, those would be worth a bit more work; smoother shading and highlighting; a more detailed body; a painted hair option, as we can get with many skins, so usefull when you wear a cap or a hat; an everything pack with an irresistible price.

Conclusion: The first Signature skins aren’t totally as good as some of the best skins in SL, but at this price, these skins are really worth a look, as they offer good features, especially on the face (but who needs more frankly ) The Asian, blonde and black skins are a great tribute to diversity. Those wanting to look sexy without spending 2000 Lindens on a skin everyone is wearing definitely have to consider them!

It’s always nice to have new skins for men to try on! Especially good ones like the “David” and “Nicholas” from Sachi Vixen for “Adam n Eve”.

Guys, you have no excuse to all look like clones wearing the same two skins from the same two major sellers! Now you have even less excuses.

Each skin comes in 4 facial options: Shaven, Goatee and chin beard, plus Black Eye Liner for Nicholas, and a lighter goatee for David.

I do love the chin beard options, very original and realistic. On David, it’s more discreet than on Nicholas. (All facial options shown after the jump.)

Each comes in four tones, slightly different from one skin to another (see below).

Faces, clearly photosourced, are nicely worked. Sachi paid attention to details. The ears, a weak spot of many skins, are totally good on these skins.

Both young looking, Nicholas has a more “exotic” face maybe, with a nice shine on the lips. Best choice for personality. David is clearly the handsome 20-something man. Best choice for sexiness

Bodies of both skins are alike, with very well defined muscles, which is a must have on men’s skins in sl… Too bad for diversity, but I can imagine people want to show a well defined body because it’s what they consider great in RL. The skins looks great on the usual big shapes, it’s a bit more difficult to wear with a thin avatar but, hey, the faces are great and, after all, for me a skin is all about face and hands as i usually go dressed Hands are pleasant, and feet are clearly the weakness of these skins, but it’s a very common problem, due to the poor feet Linden Labs gave us!

You definitely need to take a look at these skins. They’re fairly priced, at 1200 for one, 3000 for the four facial options in one color.

These skins are the perfect complement in the range of Adam n Eve skins for men, nearby the great Damien, Jared and Darcy, perfect choice for those wanting a Thirty something look.

• Another release of men’s skins at Minnu Model Skins! Less than 3 weeks after “Gen 3 for men” skin, Thora Charron offers us “Sexy,” a variation of Gen3. The differences are mostly in the skin tones and available facial options.

Skin tones are more naturally dark skin than suntanned skin (in Gen3) for the darkest tones. So the skin colors are less warm, more matte brown. It’s a very interesting alternative. The skins come in only two chest hair options (shown below) while Gen3 offers three. Eyebrows are slightly different, more straight. But the main change, and for me the most interesting, is the choice of facial hair and makeup offered. First, there are three different chin beard options. Chin beards are cool and sexy for sure! You can also get a rugged beard (like three days long of a very brown beard), and a shaven version. But there’s more! Each facial hair option comes in natural and eyelinered version! Eyeliner suits very well Asian and naturally dark skins, so the eyeliner is a perfect complement of the “sexy” skin tones.

You can have your favorite skin for 1700 Lindens (including bald and hair version), a pack of two skins (same tone, same chest hair option, same facial hair option, including with and without eyeliner in bald and hairy version) for 2500 Linden, or a pack of 5 facial options (same tone, same chest hair option, same makeup option, in bald and hairy version) for 6000 Lindens. Note that you will be offered in each pack a complementary hair working with the hairy version of the skins (shown below).

What I like: the quality of the chin beard options, the handsome facial features (same as the Gen3), the choice between 2 chest hair versions, plus yes, the back is sexy!

What I wish: a light stubble facial hair version. I like “rugged,” but a sexy skin should have a five o’clock shadow version ; a better definition of the feet, surprisingly less good than the other parts of the skin (same problem as withthe Gen3). Because i’m an insatiable freak, I would like a toned but less defined muscle option. I think we can have sexy avatars who don’t look like they spend 4 hours a day at the gym! Hey, we need time too to develop a smart mind and grab some culture, it’s part of sexiness too, no?

• As usual, when it comes to showing you skins, I use designers’ shapes. I used today a shape from Alexxis Laszlo who just started a joint venture with Kira Paderborn named “Corrupted innocence,” such a program! They sell shapes, moddable shapes of course. I chose “Derrick” because I found he had an interesting and original face. (You have to choose your shape for the face, a moddable shape of course, then adjust the body to your own taste, I swear it’s not so difficult, and pretty fun!) Consider a designer shape as a start for the creation of your very own avatar. I modified slightly the body of Derrick to suit my needs for the shooting, it took me no more than a few minutes.

I tried out “MMS Sexy” with a few dozen designer shapes. The skin is pretty versatile. it looks better though with avatars whose lips are not too thin (if your avie has thin lips, you might appreciate “Damien,” “Darcy” and “Jared,” the best skins from Sachi Vixen @ Adam n’ Eve [Designer, Address & SLURL], just FYI

One more men’s skin on Slmen today!
“Joshua,” from Damiani by KaoZ Koba, is brand new! KaoZ designed it to fit his own taste, as he didn’t find any skin in SL to suit his needs
Like most of the popular male skins, this one is mainly photosourced and reworked in Photoshop. “Joshua” comes in two skin tones, “Natural” and “Tan.” I like the natural color, and I hope that KaoZ will soon provide more choice, a tone between the two existing ones, and a paler one, at least!

8 facial hair options (shown) are offered, in 2 chest hair options (smooth and lightly hairy), each with and without eyeliner, so 32 options per skin tone.
This skin is sold for 1800 Lindens for a facial option in one skin tone, including the 4 versions made with and without eyeliner for each chest hair option. You can choose a fat pack of 8 facial options (so 32 skins) in one skin tone for 9000 Lindens.

The skins are copy, no transfer and modify, which allows you to adjust the tone and the other parameters available in appearance mode, for a perfect customization!

What I like: The face, offering the perfect equation: “Gentle+Masculine=Sexy”; the golden color of the skin in its tan tone, the fresh healthy look of the “normal” one -well, the maker is a great colorist!-; the facial hair, very natural.
What I wish: A better definition of the feet, certainly the weak point of this skin, a better price, especially for the fatpack.

Conclusion: this is my default skin for a few days. I adopted it instantly! You really should give it a chance and grab the demos!

I chose two very different ones: “Wade” from “Kissable Shapes-Relax” (Laxx Scarborough), stocky and powerful without being too huge, and “E4:26″ from “Philotic Energy” (Aemilia Case), thin and tall. They are both cool, fairly priced and MODDABLE! I show them “as is,” but they will be perfect bases for building your very own shape. Enjoy!

Another release of men’s skins! The time when our choice of very good skins was limited to…one (a bit more than one year ago)… is definitely over! With this last release, Minnu Model Skins offers us an excellent and versatile skin. Gen 3 Men from Thora Charron shows the same athletic body as the previous versions. The muscles are VERY defined (way more than the new updated Envision I showed you a few days ago). The skins have some hair on the forearms and thighs for more realism and come in 3 chest hair versions (see below). Fragile guys who are afraid of waxing will be happy with this skin!

Minnu Model Skin Gen 3 Men is available in 6 color tones. This is one of the widest palettes of natural tones you can find on the market. Each comes in 12 facial hair and makeup options (shown below as well).

What is new on these Gen 3 Men skins from Minnu Model Skin, compared to the previous model? The face, mainly. It can now fit a wide range of shapes, and the definition is truly improved. Brows were reworked, too. On the body, legs and feets are totally redone and improved.

Soon, you will be offered a goth skin tone version, a blond version, and some more face options.

You can have your favorite skin for 1700 Lindens (including bald and hair version), or a pack of 6 facial options (same tone, same chest hair option) for 9000 Lindens.

What I like: the choice of natural skin tones; the originality of some facial options; the choice between 3 chest hair versions.
What I wish: a true black skin; a little better definition of the feet; a more generous rebate on the multipack.

As usual, when it comes to showing you skins, I use designers’ shapes. You will see on the main composites and chest hair options composite a shape from Flesh Peddler by Vasean Talamasca. His shapes are good, come only in moddable version and have a very fair price: you can get one of them for 200 Lindens. Vasean is humble enough to consider his shapes not like achieved artwork, but as a basis to build our own. He is perfectly aware of what designers’ shapes should be: helpers to create faster and in an easier way a personalized shape. How far from the unbelievably pretentious words of some shape sellers who claim to make (at delusional prices) not only shapes but people, no less!

You will find also (on color tones composites) a shape from Taco Taco Taco by Marissa Racecourse who offers cool moddable shapes at reasonable prices, and whose ads show shapes naked, simply dressed, and closeups of the face with different skins, a great idea and a true help for the customers. I wish I could see this more often in shops, instead of “stylishly” dressed models on pictures not showing how the shape really looks. Last but not least, Marissa offers a demo for her shapes (with oversized hands and feet). There is no better way to choose, looking at a shape at every angle with the skin of your choice!

Introducing today the updated version of Envision Skin for men, by Maximillion Grant for The Body Politik! And at the same time, I’m pleased to announce that The Body Politik is having a huge 50% off sale on every skin (including the updated ones), shapes and skin-shape packs from saturday 29th until the 31st of december at noon SL time! This is a very interesting way to get the new Envision I’m presenting in depth today.

Faithful to slmen policy about comments, I will stay as factual as I can and let you take a look at the many pictures I did.

First, general pictures in two skin tones, then after the jump, you will see all the skin tones offered, then the 12 different facial hair options added to the clean shaven one, and at the end you will have a look at the brand new makeup versions, in three options. They are modeled with 3 different designer’s shapes, to show you their versatility. (so no, it’s not me on the pictures )

Note that the pricing scheme remains the same: you can have a skin in one skin tone and one facial option for 1750 Lindens, a pack of 4 diffrent facial hair option in the same skin tone, including the “clean shaven” one, for 3500 Lindens. 4 Packs are provided. You can choose the complete pack of all 13 facial hair options in one skin tone for 5000 Lindens. Each skin comes in two versions, hair and bald. In the following pictures, you will see the “hair version.” As a complement item, you will also get a color matching texture for your Xcite genitals if you have them.

So, what is new in this update?

Maximillion redid the eyebrows and the hair almost completely. The hair is now incredibly realistic, and can easily be worn without any prim hair.

The ears are retouched, and the result is worth it.

Most importantly, the upper eyelid is now lightened. That makes Envision now able to fit many more shapes. The main problem of the previous version IMHO was these dark eyelids which didn’t look good with many face shapes. This is now fixed!

There were little problems with light spots next to the eyes; these are fixed too. Last but not least, the skin suffered from dark patches, depending on lighting conditions, which have been fixed as well, so the skin looks more natural in more situations.

But wait, there’s more! Maximillion Grant went through the whole skin, top to bottom, and did a lot of work smoothing out any graininess while trying to keep all the details. As a result, the entire skin has much better definition.

A few words about the makeup options. They come for each skin tone in every facial hair option! Makeup 1 is an eyeliner, makeup 2 is the same eyeliner with some black eyeshadow, makeup 3 looks to me like the number two version, but tear-stained. Interesting options which stay masculine looking. I know that Maximillion has been working a lot on them!

Envision is now an achieved skin. It was already a good alternative, but its flaws and especially the lack of versatility according to facial shapes prevented it from being in the top category. Now it’s part of the top range and it’s good for the competition between skin creators!

What I like: the huge variety of facial hair options, and now the makeup options, which come in every facial hair and skin tone; the gentle face you get with that skin; the hair; the slim and toned appearance it gives, without overdeveloped abs or pecs.

What I wish: a blonde version. A real black skin tone and maybe a natural tone lighter than “titanium” (maybe with a blonde or reddish version? )

Remember that the 50% sale will make these skins particularly more attractive until the 31st of december 2007 noon SL time!
