Slmen – How Men Dress in Second Life ®

Introducing today the new men’s skins by Roslin Petion and CJ Carnot for “Tete a Pied” (which means absolutely nothing in French, but whatever!).

These skins are a total breakthrough in the men’s skin market, as they are priced at only 500 Lindens, which is absolutely new for such quality work.
It’s a very hard point for the competitors and an excellent one for the customers!

“These skins fall very nicely between photoreal and hand drawn. Like our women’s line, they are a hybrid skin. We wanted them to compliment our women’s line but gave them a little extra contrast to add strength to the detail. Each skin comes with a version with and without scalp hair and they are available in 6 skin tones. We might consider red haired and blonde versions if we hear there is enough of a demand and as always, we are happy to do customs. In addition to a Clean Cut and Beat (goatee) option, we’ve created a Mature look, a few extra lines and wrinkles lend the skin a dignified older man look,” Roslin Petion said.

Maybe they will offer some more facial hair options later, and if you can’t wait for different facial hair color, IM Roslin Petion or CJ Carnot; for a small fee you could have a custom skin! For sure we weren’t used to that, guys!

You will find in this long post a first composite with the details of the skin, then the 6 skin tones. After the jump, you will discover the three versions, mature, clean cut and “beat,” a full goatee, with and without designers’ prim hair. Then last but not least, you will see how “Vivant skin for men” looks on 6 different MODIFIABLE designers’ shapes (I can’t say it enough: never buy a no modify shape, you would regret it one day or another.)
I tried on around 60 of them, and I can say “Vivant” is pretty versatile and fits most of the skins on the market. Anyway, I chose 6 which offer different faces and a particularly good fitting.

What I love: the smooth details; the totally successful mix of “hand drawn” and “photosourced” design; the subtle colors offered, the possibility of custom personalization.

What I wish: a better definition of the feet; more facial hair option, color and cut! This skin deserves them!

The shape is shown “As is.” Jadenne Ariantho for Ariantho’s Angels did it. Jadenne offers a few very original shapes of both human and elf, adults, teens and even children. Of course, as all quality skins from good and fair creators, these skins are modify, so you will be able to adapt it to your own taste and to fit all shoes, attachments and clothes with simple minor modifications.

I wanted to show you today “more than pale” skins. Diarmuid from Ariantho’s Angels was one of the very few shapes which could match pleasantly the three interesting skins that attracted my attention. I chose Diarmuid because it was the thinnest one, and I thought a pretty thin body was the best match for that kind of skin.

Diarmuid is an adult human male. He is 6‘7“, so a pretty good height in SL, he is in shape without being overmuscled or beefy. He will please those who want an original masculine tall shape without looking like one of the millions of Hulks we can see on the grid.

With this great new addition to men’s skin choice, we can’t hardly complain that we are all forced to wear the same skin to have a quality one!

Minnu Palen and her sister Thora Charron have done a great job. These skins are superb. The skin tones are very different from one another, so it should be easy to choose one that suits you! For now, they offer 4 facial hair and make-up options (see the last composite), and 2 body hair choices (see below), including a smooth and very appealing chest hair.

Each single skin is 1,500 Lindens, and you can get a pack of 4 facial hair option, one body hair option for 5,000 Lindens.

As usual with skins, pick the demo and try it long enough to be sure of your choice. It’s probably better to wait until the day after to buy, after a second try!

I show you the new eyes from Redgrave as well. They are very well drawn, as usual, very detailed with a realistic texture. I love particularly “Grey Blue,” “Brown,” “Romantic Blue,” “Sands,” “Blue water.” The other colors are less realistic, and i’m not convinced by the tintable one, but the other tones and the tintable one could suit those who prefer a less realistic look! Those eyes are clearly some of the best eyes you can get in SL.

They are priced at 150 each pair. This is too much compared to similar eyes. Zada does as good with three ambient light options packaged for each color, priced only 100 Lindens, and you can get very good eyes from Miriel or Pixeldolls for 50 lindens.

Well, I don’t know how it’s going for you, but today is a terrible SL day for me. Textures don’t rezz, attachments don’t attach, my studio can’t work properly because of an excess of lag… Thank you Linden Labs! Consequence: no pictured post today…

It’s really too bad, because I have a lot of things to show you! Especially skins, new skins which are valuable additions to the choices we already have!

The time when we had only one decent skin for men (Dxxx by Nxxx, you see what I mean…) is over and it’s good for diversity!

We have now the hand drawn from Form, those from Chip Midnight, very photorealistic, the envision by Body Politik, the ones from The Good Life, the last three ones from Adam n Eve, some really good skins from RaC, the new “Advance Skins” from Aitui and, of course, the great Antonio from FNKY. More recently we were offered the pleasant Nora Entice for men.

You have seen all these good and very good skins on slmen, in the new “Body Positive” series (if not, follow this link!), and you will see them again soon!

This week offered us 2 new skins, and they are more than good! Minnu model skins released its new range for men, and Redgrave its “Emil.”

There will be dedicated posts for those skins very soon, I mean as soon as SL will allow me to work properly…

You can always use the following links to take demos and try them out.
Remember that skins are really different on different shapes. Please never buy a skin too quickly. Take several demos, go back home, try them, take your time, and wait until the day after to buy the one you like.

The shape is almost shown “As is.” Lexi Morgan made these shapes for Stellar Design. Stellar Design offers beautiful, sexy and pretty “stocky” shapes that will please men who want to look powerful! And because they are “modify,” you will be able to change and, maybe, choose to have other proportions one day!

For this “Rocker” from Lexi, I just had to set the foot length to 30 for better proportions with the body, and the eyelashes to 0. With some skins, eyelashes look odd on men. One more reason to avoid no modify shapes!

Rocker is 6‘6“, so an average height in SL. He is powerful and muscled, without being genetically modified or taking steroids. Let’s say he must spend a lot of his time in the gym!

Lexi’s shapes look great and appealing and they match perfectly the best selling skins in SL, but I wanted to show you black skins today, and this shape is one of my favorite for that purpose. Believe me, I mixed and matched skins and shapes for hours before the final choice!

The shape is shown “As is.” Aemilia Case of Lemon did it. Aemilia and her business partner Haver Cole design the most interesting shapes in SL in my humble opinion. They bring diversity to SL! Black shapes, shorter shapes, chubby shapes, and even old and fat shapes.

Aemilia and Haver know how to make an avatar interesting and genuine without being necessarily “pretty.” Because they are customer conscious, they make their shapes “modify,” so you can make your avie evolve if you want to.

This -7:23- shape will please those who want to be pretty tall without being a giant (6’6”), with a thin body. Notice how different skins can give a totally different appearance to the same shape!
