Slmen – How Men Dress in Second Life ®

Introducing today some of my favorite clothing items: jeans and good sweaters, said that I went chasing them. On Redgrave I found a very nice green cardigan which can be used with or without shirt (with both versions provided in the pack). The fabric seems soft to touch and gives a very relaxed look. Note the very cool embroidery with a tiger on the back. For the pants I choose super low rise jeans at Muism, a very versatile pack coming with four versions – bootscut, cowboy, rolled-up and straight leg (that suits very well with a t-shirt and sandals) – all modifiable and with a very nice texture. For
this outfit I chose the “denim straight leg” version with only small adjustments and guess what? – they look marvelous, making legs super sexy!

The shoes come from Shiny Things, “Murphys” in brown with a very nice shoelace; they come in three sizes adaptable to fit every avatar size. And since each outfit needs a personal touch, I used a creation from Guillaume pour Homme, a cord bracelet with some gold nuggets – modifiable and with some good details even on the backside, I really love those back knots.

Second life fashion has evolved throughout the years, when second life first started we went from bad textured clothes, bad fit and bad designers. In the year of 2008 second life fashion has fully evolved and came a long way from where it started but who has S.L fashion evolved for you search fashion and 99precent of the stores are either bad quality women’s clothing or high end well designed women’s clothing, where does this leave the men, searching hours upon hours for a good pair of shoes to keep up with the clock.

Most of the second life designers slack when it come to the other side, the men’s side I have interviewed many men fashionisto’s and divos and they brought this problem to my attention, why is it that designers are not putting the full effort as they do in the women’s clothing lines, why is it that no men can search for something half decent without looking like all the other men with taste. There are so few good quality men’s store most of the men here are starting to look like they come off an assembly line, the men with taste that is. I find it ridiculous that designer’s sloop something together and define it new, bold and classy.

Fashion is an art, and I believe if you want to call yourself a true artist you should take the time to define yourself as the artist you say you are. Clothes are an individual’s definition, it is a way to make statement without a word, having heads turn as you pass the corner, for defining yourself as a unique and fashion forward. If men’s clothing is not quickly defined as a true art in second life it will be defined as outdated and stale. Have the passion, have the patience and help save men’s fashion

• Introducing today a new outfit from “Fuse” by Jonathan Hugo: “Oxford”, a V-neck sweater on a shirt with loosen tie, plus dark jeans. Jonathan Hugo, the maker, does high quality stuff at reasonable prices. Oxford is really nicely done, with textures showing the different fabric “touch”: you can “feel” the wool of the sweater and get the shine of the silk on the tie! Tops come as combos on the jacket layer, in 4 colors (shown) and you can choose two shades for the jeans classic denim (shown) and black. Jeans come with sculpted cuffs. Well, it’s no secret that I’m not fond of them. I find them impossible to adjust perfectly most of the time. I have to admit that, with these ones, adjustment is pretty easy, plus their color and pattern fit perfectly the pants layer. Everything is moddable and copy-no transfer.
I love “Oxford’s semi casual look, dressy and laid back in the same time. I just wish more layers options to wear it under a coat or a jacket!
You can get separately the tops for 115 Lindens per color, or pick them all for 350 Lindens, jeans for 110 Lindens per color.

Cocooning for Valentine…

…with luxurious slippers by Eponymous Trenchmouth for JCS shoes. They come in 6 patterns/fabrics, from leather to emboidered velvet, quilted silk, etc! In each pack you will find two sizes to harmonize with your avatar size (and not to your feet, which have to be set to zero for most of the shoes, because of the mediocrity of the mesh for male avatars’ feet, not for some Chinese torture reason (I read that somewhere, such an idea LOL). They are no modify, no copy and transfer for easy gifting, but you can ask Epy for a copy-no transfer version if you are, like me, fond of the outfits folders for instant changings! They are priced at 300 Lindens. Well, it’s expensive for slippers you will, frankly, not wear that much in SL. But they are such beautiful pieces of prim work (not sculpted) I’m sure you could be tempted! Note that for Valentine’s, the “crimson quilted” model is sold at 50% off!

…with sensual silk boxers by Lexi Morgan for Stellar Designs. A pack including five of them (black, pink, red, silver and white) on the underpants layer, no modify, no transfer, is sold for a low 50 Lindens.

…with cool tattoos from Kaori Masala for Devol. Although the seams are not perfect (lets face it, for now Aitui is the only one providing really seamless tattoos), I found them interesting. This FujinRaijin-karajishi tattoo comes on shirt and undershirt layers, in two versions, with and without kanjis on it. It’s copiable, and moddable so you can change its color if you want to. You can get the pack for 180 Lindens.

…with brand new eyes from Posy Trudeau for Flesh Peddlers. They are nicely done, come in 28 colors (no less!!!), each eye comes in 3 sizes, from natural to anime style. Some colors are THE nice. Showing today Chambray, one of my very favorites. 75 Lindens for a pack of 3 size of one color. Copy-no transfer. I just wish for a fat pack!

• Introducing today a new outfit from “Lookr” by Adam Soler: “Form,” a black suit with white shirt and black tie. Mostly handdrawn with a few basis photosourced and heavily reworked, it looks incredibly “real” though, thank to shadows and highlights, very well done. This black suit shows a lot of highlighted parts figuring the light when it plays with the fabric irl, giving an in-depth vision.

Everything, jacket, shirt and pants come in as many layers as possible (including of course complements on the underpant layers for top pieces, to allow you to wear them with low rise pants). In the pack, you will find three versions of the shirt, one to wear stand alone, with tie and collar drawn, another one showing only the tie drawn, to wear with a prim attachment collar and tie knot, another without tie drawn, to wear with a combo collar tie attachment, your choice when you wear the shirt without a jacket over it. You will also get cuffs which make you look like you’ve folded the shirt cuff over the jacket sleeve, a cool laid back way of wearing a suit I’ve not seen yet in sl, perfectly adequate with the informal look of the suit.

The black checked shirt from ARAI is something I’ll wear a lot, I can tell already. The seams aren’t perfect, but come on….checks? Can’t have been easy to get it to match as well as it does. I’m not gonna complain. And at a mere 40L, what a bargain. It comes with a long-sleeved black t-shirt to go under, which I’m not wearing here.

• Introducing today some items from “Arai” by mappy Handrick. I discovered the shop randomly a few days ago. Mappy offers basic items at very low prices. Military jacket comes on the jacket and skirt layer. Seams between both layers are nicely adjusted (I’m less against skirt layer complements since I knew properly fitted ones). In the pack you will get two jacket layers, one with included shirt, the other without. A pre-fitted sleeve filler is provided, completing the “shirt included” version (70 Lindens).

Also showing “Leather jacket” in three colors, with and without included shirt on the jacket layer as well, plus sleeve filler (60 Lindens/color,) “Tailored jacket” with shirt or T-shirt included on the jacket layer, or without (70 Lindens), and a pack of two pairs of jeans, pretty nice ones, in two shades of blue, they are almost given (2 lindens!).
Everything is neat, copyable and moddable. Arai is a perfect address for those on a budget willing to look good!

• A new version of the famous “Engineer Boots” from Mai Runo for Zero style is available! City casual looking boots which are not punk looking are not so common on the grid. These boots, and the other Mai Runo provides, are some of the best items of this kind. They are moddable, which is pretty rare for shoes, so you are sure to perfectly adjust them to fit your avatar. They come in two parts attached on the foot and lower leg points. For an untucked look, you can wear the shoe part without the leg part, it still looks good!
