Tenue du jour / Outfit of the day: “Aitui”, “Boon”, “Civvies”, “JHZ”, “Style Starts Here”…

Ben Vanguard | - Tenue/Outfit, Automne-Hiver/Fall-Winter, Casual, Dressy, Night, Semi-Casual | Friday, October 17th, 2008

Two months ago, I showed you some items of the new “Aitui” collection in a summer outfit, telling you how versatile it is, and especially the “Tokyo Intake” jacket and shirt combo. I’m showing today another look with this jacket, more a fall look this time. I chose “Baggy Jeans” from Civvies to go along with it, and the “Stomper Engineer Boots” from “Style Starts Here.”

Each piece of this outfit shows the same level of quality and attention to detail. Textures are very well done, showing a “realistic” look without being simply “photorealistic” in the most boring way. What I mean is, even though the designers could have simply used photosources, they weren’t satisfied with their work without adding a lot of their own creativity and vision to it. The result is a look that isn’t cartoonish at all, but doesn’t give you the impression you just have RL photographs applied to your avatar. In the end, a very cool look, full of SL spirit, with creativity and craftmanship in every component, thanks to Lissa Maertens, Posy Trudeau and Jesseaitui Petion!

I added nice gloves by Armin Wiefel for “Drawmachine,” with prim attachments for a better look, a modern and casual Watch and Bracelet by HugoZion Kondor for “JHZ,” a very cool haircut by Bo Nakamura for “Boon” and “Neo” by Kaoz Koba for “Damiani,” in tan with beard for today.

Enjoy!

Tenue de rentrée / Back to School Outfit: “Hoorenbeek”, “JHZ”, “Kalrau”…

The Blood Wings t-shirt collection from JHZ features a winged globe graphic against a thankfully not-too-realistic blood spatter. The shirt comes in blue, gray, green, yellow and brown (shown). The wrinkles and shading give the impression of a very tightly fitting tee, well done. My only complaint would be its availablility only on the jacket layer. Shirt layer (plus undershirt layer!) with an underwear-layer extension would be nice to wear tucked, or to show off belted pants.

Quality: 4/5 - Style-Originality: 3/5 - Usability (different layers, modify perms, amount of outfits put together with a single pack, sizes for attachments…): 2/5 - Price:4/5 - Value for money: 4/5

The Luxor Warrior Jeans from JHZ are nicely textured, with a roughened, worn look, and featuring a portrait done in red. The color is almost a brownish-black, or perhaps black with brown highlights. Either way, it allows the jeans to be worn with the brown t-shirt without a lot of conflict.

Kalrau’s backpack is perfect for stuffing with too many books; you can tell its overstuffed by the fact that the zipper can’t quite close all the way. Little details like this are what make me a fan of Kal’s stuff. Not as whimsical as I expect from Kal…he could hang some little trinket from the pack, or stuff something in the pocket! Still, good textures as usual, color changeable by script, with 6 preset textures and 6 sizes. Shown here is “DJ.”

Along with the featured selections from JHZ and Kalrau, I’m showing the All Stars from Hoorenbeek in brown, the free hair from booN, and a found objects bracelet from Mhaijik Guillaume.

Enjoy!

Tenue de Rentrée / Back to School Outfit: “Boon”, “FNKY!”, “Dinzeo Designs”, “Valiant”…

Ben Vanguard | - Tenue/Outfit, Automne-Hiver/Fall-Winter, Casual | Thursday, September 4th, 2008

I didn’t know “Dinzeo Designs,” run by Devon Dinzeo, until a few days ago. This designer, who used to be a builder for 4 years with another avatar, now creates great quality clothing at more than fair prices.

I bought this “Dooger” outfit, and I must say I was impressed with the quality of the items I found in the package for a mere 175 Lindens! A pair of low waist brown pants (on the pants layer), a black sweater (on the jacket layer), a sleeve filler on the shirt layer (which can be used as a tucked sweater with high rise pants), plus a sculpted turtleneck and a sculpted beret (not shown). Everything is modify and transfer.

The textures are really good: the pants show nice creases and the sweater is perfectly highlighted; everything is done using the best practices: neat collar zone finish for the sweater (often a weak point) and no jagged bottom bug for the pants. All I can do is to advise you to visit the shop, to discover a short but already interesting collection (complete outfits and separates), at sweet prices!

Also showing the very good “Kicks II” sneakers from “FNKY!,” a new hair from “Boon,” and a bag from “Valiant.” Enjoy!
