Cattivo is Back!

Ben Vanguard | Short Notes | Thursday, January 8th, 2009

Cattiva e Cattivo lovers, It’s time to be wicked again. After a bit of a hiatus (Lissa Maertens, owner of Cattiva e Cattivo) went into partnership with Simone Stern of Simone! and Style Starts Here and created designs under her brand name.) She has decided to get back into the mix by starting Cattiva e Cattivo up again.

“After some long and sleepless nights in RL I decided that it was time to go back to what I knew. Don’t get me wrong, I love Simone and I think she is an awesome designer and one hell of a great friend. That hasn’t changed. However, my RL wasn’t permitting me to put the energy into working with Simone the way I wanted to,” said Ms. Maertens.

So… Cattiva e Cattivo is back!

Nouveau chez / New at “Cattivo” (Lissa Maertens) & “Guillaume pour Homme (Mhaijik Guillaume)

Ben Vanguard | Automne-Hiver/Fall-Winter, Casual, Semi-Casual | Sunday, November 25th, 2007

Introducing today a new mega pack from Cattivo by Lissa Maertens: “the constructivist.”

“I call it the Constructivist because it just has the post-czar soviet socialist feel to it. There are three basic versions of it.
The Constructivist has a closed jacket and is clean, minimal shading and it goes with nice non-stressed black or blue jeans and a nice neat no collar shirt buttoned to the neck.
The De-Constructivist is the open jacket version. It has a tucked in shirt that goes with it (can either be buttoned or unbuttoned) more shading on the jacket and the jeans are blue or black but a bit more “stressed” and worn.
The Destructivisit is an open jacket that is well stressed, deeply shaded and had a lot of “grunge” on it. It comes with an untucked shirt and open collar. You can wear the shirt without the jacket or with the jacket (I had to create a jacket layer with both untucked shirt and jacket on it). The jeans come in blue or black are slightly bulkier, have a lot more “stress” in them and have some nice yucky grunge. I decided not to rip them because I already offer ripped jeans and just didn’t feel like it.
Best of all… this outfit comes with all three “states” of wear. As an added bonus, I made my first pair of prim shoes. Now, don’t be too tough on the shoes… I honestly just wanted to mess around with them and see what I could do.”
Lissa said.

Well, all that for 450 Lindens and you have enough to mix and match for days! My favorite version is the “Destructivist”; I show it on the main composite. The second composite gives you a preview of the many other combinations you can create with this “outfit construction set” so generous with no less than 40 components in the pack, not to mention the free bonus shoes! :-) You will get: 6 pairs of pants with prim cuffs (not shown), 3 jackets with prim cuffs, 3 combo jacket/untucked shirts, an unbuttoned shirt in tucked and untucked version in three colors plus one tintable, a buttoned tucked shirt in three colors plus one tintable, bonus free shoes prototype (not shown).

To go along with these outfits, I found that the brand new “Jake Skin” from Posy Trudeau for Flesh Peddlers would be great with its many versions, and the various hairs from Philotic Energy (Aemilia case). The very good boots by Mai Runo for Zero Number match perfectly with these outfits.

Also introducing the new ring collection from Mhaijik Guillaume “chain of love,” particularly original.

Nouveau chez / New at: “Cattivo” by Lissa Maertens

Lissa Maertens for “Cattivo” offers us her new “The Englishman” suit. This very good obsidian suit comes with a full collection of elements.

Jackets first, you will find 4 of them in the pack, open and closed, with or without skirt component for the lower part: this way, everyone should find a jacket to suit his needs and his avatar shape.

[My advice about skirt complement is, for a better fitting, to set your butt around 20-30 . I've said a few days ago that you should have a copy of your shape with the feet set to zero to fit the shoes, maybe you could consider having another one with feet to zero AND butt to 25 to fit the suits with skirt layer for the bottom part of the jacket! :-) One more reason, if needed, to never buy a shape from a shape-maker not customer-conscious enough to sell (often at high prices) no modify shapes.]

Pants: two pairs, one to use as is, another one to use with prim legs for a perfect finish. If you feel uncomfortable with prim attachments, use the regular pair! Thank you, Lissa, for giving us the choice!

Vests: one model in two different length, and a bonus one including a poofer for the sleeves of the jacket you wear over it!

Shirts. I should say orgy of shirts! Eleven shirts with different ties, plus open collar with and without ascot, and closed collar with and without ascot. Not to mention the version to wear with the prim collar that comes in the pack! It’s not over! You also have 4 shirts on the undershirt layer to wear under the vest, buttoned or not, with and without ascot. Well, 21 shirts! I never saw such generosity.

“The Englishman” is absolutely versatile. Wearing it, you could have a modern, classic look, and, using the vest, a retro, more formal look as well. Without the vest and with the ascot, it could even give a casual chic flair.

All the items are modify, no copy, transfer, and the prim attachments are modify, copy, transfer, so you can mess with them as much as you want after a security backup! All is modify means you can be sure you will be able to make your pants fit any shoes you could want, adjust the optional skirt layer of the jacket perfectly, and set the shirt and jacket sliders to be sure the jackets won’t have ugly and unnatural tight sleeves! :)

The items are nicely designed, with the handdrawn flair I’m more and more attracted by. With this suit, it’s now obvious that Lissa Maertens is not a beginning designer anymore. Her very first items could have some flaws, like all the first items of the big names, believe me, but she evolved a lot.
Certain things remain the same with Lissa, though: she offers a very warm and caring customer service, she is humble enough to take critiques to become better, and down to earth to offer very attractive prices. Yes, all these components are sold for an incredibly low 450 Lindens!

With that “Englishman” suit, Lissa reached the next level. She is a hard worker and i’m sure I will be impressed as well with her next release.

I built my outfit of the day around this leather jacket from Lissa Maertens for “Cattivo.”
A new designer in world, Lissa offers promising pieces, even though some still have some little seam problems. ;-)

Lissa craves to learn and improve her work, so these little issues will be soon old stories! I chose a shirt and a pair of khakis in her collection to complete the outfit.
