Shopping at “GrandMa,” Hanae Nishi’s brand, is like browsing the flea market and finding the vintage piece which will be the start of a new trend, as creation is now mainly re-creation! Here you can find funny and cool items, and their very low price (50 Lindens/item) is an incentive to put together original outfits and dare to try what you usually don’t. All is moddable, like at all the good makers, and copy/no transfer. I chose these plaid distressed pants with bright colors in the last collection from “GrandMa.”
Also new, the Suit Shirt by Emma Gilmour for “Sand Shack Surf & Co.” in the Surf Couture range. They come in 8 colors, and are very nicely done. The precision of the drawing gives a very interesting look, neither cartoonish nor photosourced.
I Like Emma’s work, plus she is one of the most adorable designers I’ve met. I was about to not show this jacket-shirt combo on Slmen though.
Because the jacket layer of the combo jacket-shirt is “no modify,” I had to fight for ages with a sleeve filler on the shirt layer to give it a satisfying appearance, avoiding the ugly tight sleeves of the jacket – I must be the only one hating the tight sleeved jackets, everyone seems ok with that, including all the fashion gurus from everywhere on the grid. I suppose a simple guy working on his fashion blog without seeing the daylight, should accept like everyone. But I just can’t!!!
Things would be so much easier if only the bloody jacket would be moddable: just one or two points less on the sleeve’s length would be fine on the jacket layer, with a basic setting of the sleeve filler’s “sleeve looseness” in appearance mode. I would have gotten a way better look for way less work.
PLEASE, PLEASE! Tell me why these jackets-shirts combo are set to “no modify?” This is just plain stupid. I don’t understand what the designer gains doing that, but I’m perfectly aware of what the customer loses…
These good jackets are no copy-transfer, unfortunately not moddable, and you can get your favorite color for 110 Lindens, or get the fat pack of 8 for 600 Lindens.
To complete the outfit, I chose one more time shoes from “Perfect Tomorrow” in their low version in Black and Gray, perfectly matching the jacket and shirt combo; also my favorite hair from “Aitui,” a simple but beautiful ring from “Eye Candy” and a pair of glasses from “Sergeys,” for a slightly intellectual look
ADD ON: Emma Gilmour just let me know that you can, on request, have a moddable version of the jackets. She usually sets the perms to “no-modify” to avoid the items being totally destroyed (and so the customer being disappointed), as her stuff is mainly “No copy-Transfer” (easily giftable).
If you feel able to mod your stuff, ask Emma for an exchange! If you need to learn how to modify items, you better make a copy of a “copy-no transfer” item and mess with it as much as you want until you get skilled enough to do it on a “no copy” item!
When you use a sleeve filler on the shirt layer like I did to give some volume to the sleeves, you could have a perfect look shortening the sleeves of the jacket layer a little bit, by one or two points of the “sleeve length” slider in appearance mode, first on the top!
